Preston North End has fired manager Paul Heckingbottom. The club announced his exit on Sunday. Preston is currently in the bottom three of the Championship after losing six of its first seven games in the current league schedule. Heckingbottom was brought in at Preston last year. He once led Sheffield United. The side will be led by a Premier League cult hero as interim manager. The decision comes after a difficult beginning to the campaign.
