Zheng and Andreeva Miss Wuhan Open After Beijing

Zheng Qinwen and Mirra Andreeva have both stepped back from the 2026 Wuhan Open. Zheng is dealing with a shoulder complaint as the reason for her exit, which came following her victory at the China Open in Beijing. Andreeva also confirmed her withdrawal after competing in that same final.

Philippines wildcard Alex Eala is set to open her campaign against China's Han Shi in the first round of the WTA tournament in Wuhan. Eala's place in the draw puts her in contention against a Chinese crowd favourite.
